Discover Saint-François in Guadeloupe
La Pointe des Châteaux
Learn More
The most majestic site in Guadeloupe
The most visited site in Guadeloupe, with nearly 500,000 visitors each year, it actually contains no real castles. Its name simply comes from the establishment of the Capuchin religious community, who made it their parish in 1683: the Parish of the Châteaux.
At the tip of the peninsula, on the rocky hill known as Pointe des Colibris, the first cross was erected in 1951. It was recently replaced by a monumental cross weighing 9 tons and standing 10 meters high. From there, you'll enjoy a unique view of the peninsula and the surrounding islands — and in spring, you might even spot whales along the coast.
